Leading Change for Resilient Communities
The Anti-Racism Community Stewardship (ARCS) program is a training program to create a cadre of anti-racism community facilitators across rural BC. Participants from selected communities (see details below) will undergo a 7-month training program to become ARCS.
Starting in November 2022 – May 2023.
ARCS will work together to create educational resources and community workshops that will bring people together to remove systemic barriers and address inequities woven into our society. The ARCS will be a resource for communities seeking to address racism and hate through:

ARCS Program Details
In July of 2022, a rigorous application process was launch to select fill the 20 seats in the ACRCS training program. Over 80 applications were received and 35 candidates were interviewed. Using criteria outlined in the application process, 14 candidates were selected by the end of September. We are, therefore, relaunching the
application process to select the final 6 candidates from targeted communities where we are seeking additional ARCS participants.
Training Timeline
ARCS is a 7-month training program, starting in November 2022 and ending in May 2023. Trainings will take place both online over Zoom, and through in-person sessions. It will also include self-guided work based on the training modules. ARCS program trainings will take place on the following dates from about 8:30AM - 4:30PM

Compensation and Resources
Participants will receive:
$350/day for each training day
$175 for each travel day.
Participants will receive $350/day for each training day, and $175 for each travel day. Throughout April and May, participants will have coaching and support to conduct community trainings for members of the Resilience BC Anti-Racism Network. Post training, Anti-Racism Community Stewards will be equipped with the equipment, skills, tools and training packages required to conduct community trainings.

This program offers 20 available training spaces for ARCS participants across rural BC. We have reopened the application process in order to provide as many opportunities as possible to fulfil the final open slots. Therefore, applicants living or
working in, or around, the following communities will be eligible to apply for the ARCS program:

LCRC Program Overview
The Leading Change in Resilient Communities (LCRC) program is grateful to work on the lands of the lək̓ʷəŋən People, known today as the Esquimalt and Songhees Nations, and to be collaborating with 15 rural communities located on the traditional territories of more than 20 First Nations across British Columbia.
Throughout our programs, we will strive to connect with, listen to, and learn from equity deserving groups as we all work towards dismantling racism. The Leading Change for Resilient Communities (LCRC) program is a pilot project focused on bringing anti-racism education to rural communities and workplaces across B.C. The program is funded by the Province of BC and operated by the Victoria Immigrant and Refugee Center Society (VIRCS).
