Civil Forfeiture Office grants and compensation

From 2006 to the 2021 fiscal year end (FYE), the Civil Forfeiture Office (CFO) has received over 10,000 file referrals from law enforcement agencies. These referrals have resulted in the forfeiture of $129 million.

Of the $129 million, over $66 million was re-invested in B.C. communities in the form of crime prevention and remediation grants and compensation to eligible victims.

Civil Forfeiture Crime Prevention and Remediation Grant Program

The annual Civil Forfeiture Crime Prevention and Remediation Grant Program provides one-time funding to organizations from across B.C. for the implementation of crime prevention and remediation projects.

Funding Streams

The program has seven (7) funding streams:

  • Crime prevention
  • Indigenous healing
  • Restorative justice
  • Gender-based violence
  • Domestic violence prevention / Intervention programming
  • Human trafficking, sexual exploitation, and sex worker safety
  • Child and Youth Advocacy Centres
