What was the most interesting thing you learned about your topic?

The most interesting thing that I learned was that the O'Brien family owned several businesses in our community that were important to the people's livelihoods.

What important lessons have you learned that you want to share with other Canadians?

I feel that is important to celebrate our community history and remember those who went before us who contributed to our society.

How would you compare your life today to the lives of those studied in your project?

Back when the O'Brien family lived in Nelson, there were saw mills and corner stores in the community. Today, most of our saw mills are closed and there are fewer small businesses. Today, I usually shop at bigger stores like malls and also large grocery stores.
